This summer, I am looking forward to bringing another icon to life, this time stepping into the Oxford heels of silver screen legend Bette Davis in Jeff Dunn and John Freed’s Castle Happy, a new musical comedy getting its fully staged world premiere at Altarena Playhouse July 20-30th. Set at Hearst Castle in 1938, it promises a “joyous romp of glittering music, dance, and bigger-than-life personalities” that recalls the decadence of Old Hollywood.
